April 18, 1958, Dodgers played their first game in Los Angeles, demolishing the Giants, 6-5. In their final season of the decade, Dodgers, a team in the transition, finished in a tie first-place with Milwaukee Braves. Two days later, Dodgers had N.L. Pennant while sweeping Braves in a best of three games. Dodgers then faced Chicago White Sox in the World Series. While pitching a great series and amazing hitting, Dodgers brought their first championship to Los Angeles and beat White Sox in six games. Jeers de Larry was a very impressive player, he made outstanding plays during the World Series and he was honored with MVP award. Charlie Neal and Essegian chuck two races at the house the part had. The Sixties was the first decade that Dodgers were with Los Angeles. The location of the team might have changed, but the results did not change at all. Dodgers won two World Series 1963 and 1965, and also three national league pennants 1963, 1965 and 1966. |

It was the second world championship meeting of the Dodgers and the Yankees, and there was little love between them, either on the field or at the front office level. This Series would go the route, seven games, and would be filled with some especially memorable moments. After the 1950 season, there was a front-office shakeup; Branch Rickey sold his share of the club (25 percent) and stepped down from his position of president and general manager. Walter O'Malley bought that block of stock and moved into the home office as club president. With the departure of Rickey came the firing of Burl Shotton, then 65. O'Malley hired Chuck Dressen to manage the team. Uressen, whose sports career was nanny-sided (he had once been a quarterback for the original 1920 Decatur Staley’s, one of the National Football League's charter teams, later known as the Chicago Bears), had been around major league baseball since 1925 when he broke in with the Cincinnati Reds as a third baseman. He had served as a coach on various teams, including the Dodgers, and most recently had served under Leo Durocher with the Giants. Dressen had also managed the Reds from 1934 through 1937, but had never led his team to a first-division finish. O'Malley also hired Emil "Butzy" Bavaria as general manager and Fresco Thompson to run the Dodgers' well-tuned farm system and be their head scout.
